FOREWORD
Though time will pass and we shall part, this book will be
an unbreakable link in your chain of memories. And if, when
looking through these pages you relive the happy days of
yesteryears for just a while, our efforts will not have been in
vain.
Thus, we present this book to you; may it bring memories
that will live through the years.
The Annual Staff
DEDICATION
Because you deny yourself so that we may
have that which you did not have;
Because you desire for us the higher and
finer things of life;
Because you understand when all our world
goes wrong;
Because you love us in spite of our shortcom¬
ings;
And, because we want to express our love and
appreciation, we, the Seniors of
Maroa High School, dedicate this volume of
our annual to you - Our Parents.

CLASS HISTORY
On a fall day in 1952 the class of "56” started on the high school trail as little
Trojans. We were 35 in number and our General was Mrs. Eva Brown. Next in rank we
chose Mary Sue Dealey, President, Allan Alexander, Vice President, Donna Marlow,
Secretary and Don Wisnasky, Treasurer. During our first homecoming we won third
prize with our float, and chose Mary Sue Dealey and Rosalyn Cooper our queen candidates.
During this year we gained two new Trojans, Paul Seelbach, Mary Jane Williams and
Shirley Pagel, who left at the end of the year along with Dick Kemmerer, and Jim
Reed. In 1953 we start the second leg of our journey with 36 members we had gained
Nyle Puckett during the summer. Our Officers were Allen Alexander, President, Don
Wisnasky, Vice President, Nyle Puckett, Secretary, and Larry Stinson, Treasurer. This
year we won first with our homecoming float. Our Queen Candidates were Nancy Parker
and Ruth Mcllvenna. Our Christmas Queen candidates were, Mary Sue Dealey and
Phllyis Hodges. During the year we gained Dora Hearn and David Lewis.
We began our third year as Trojans with 34 in our class. During the summer we had
lost Dora Hearn, Nyle Puckett, Clyde Fansler and Luella Killian. Our New Gererals
were Mr. Marion Newman, and Miss Mary Ann Melvin. Our officers were Paul Seelbach,
President, Don Wisnasky, Vice President, Kathryn Kay, Secretary and Nancy Parker and
Jim Flint. Co-Treasurers. We got third place on our float this year and our Queen candid¬
ates were Nancy Parker and Phyllis Hodges. Our Christmas King and Queen candidates
were Ruth Mcllvenna, Linda Howland, Bob Lienhart, and Don Wisnasky. We were all
very happy when Ruth was selected Queen. Our Junior Play "A Boy Named Beulah" was
a lot of fun in the making. Our magazine sales were a success this year and so was our
Prom at the Hotel Orlando. Our theme was "How do you Speak to an Angel, "" During
our third year Jim Graupman, Glenn Bush, Roger Higgins dropped from our ranks.
As we started our last year in M. H, S. we were 33 in number as we gained Dick
Hitchens and Carroll Grindoll during the summer. Our new general was Mrs. William
Berry and our other leaders were Paul Seelbach, President, Ruth Mcllvenna , Vice
President, Kathryn Kay, Secretary, and Allan Alexander, Treasurer.
Our Queen candidates were Ruth Mcllvenna and Mary Sue Dealey. Our senior play
"Headin' for the Hills" was well liked by all.
Now as we near the end of our Trojan Life we look back and find that we have had
many happy times which will be remembered by us always.
CLASS POEM
Our Freshman year
Was started with glee.
There were no happier
Students than we.
Our initiation
Was loads of fun.
There was a prank
For everyone.
Sophomore year
Was next in line.
This year, too
Was mighty fine.
Junior year here.
Class rings came;
Our Junior play
Gained township fame.
Seniors at last!
Annual plans made.
Books to hold memories
Never to fade.
We won’t forget
That very last prom.
You went with Susie,
I went with Tom.
Those last few days
Sure went fast.
Senior year
Just doesn’t last.
Here we are standing
At the threshold of life.
To hold our heads high
Through trouble and strife

We are attending the Premiere of the new movie, the ’’Southern Belle." While standing
on the sidelines watching the stars make their grand appearances, we see the male
star of the show, Stephen Montgomery, the former STEVE ABLE. He started his acting
career performing in the plays at M.C.H.S. His leading lady is Jeanette Taylor, the
former JAN KAY ARCHEY. We hear she is dissatisfied with her movie career and plans
to return to Maroa and settle down to married life with Darrell Weikle. Also co-starring
in the movie is Marilyn Mitchell, the former NANCY PARKER, who is married to Paul
Seelbach in real life. Next is the director, ED CRABTREE, who for
sentimental reasons prefers to keep his own 'ft ^ name. It is rumored that
he is on the brink of matrimony for the fifth * time.
Now from our seats in the audience, we spot more celebrities. First the
famous TV star, LARRY STINSON, who has recently taken Herb Shriner's
place on ’’Two For the Money. ” Seated next to him is JIM FLINT, presi¬
dent of the Flint-Eaton Company, which now sponsors Larry's show. Coming down the
aisle are DONNA MARLOW and PHYLLIS HODGES, who are well known models. Donna
models fashions in Paris and plans to return to Maroa to become the wife of a farmer.
Phyllis is a model in New York. Behind them is Professor ALLAN ALEXANDER. He has
just received the Nobel Prize Award for his brilliant contribution to the field of mathe¬
matics. But who

LINDA HOWLAND, a fashion columnist. Looking around
the audience we see MARY SUE DEALEY, who is now a nurse at the Mayo Brothers
Clinic. With her is ROSALYN COOPER, an airline hostess for T. W. A. They tell us that
DICK HITCHENS, the famous auto race driver, nas just broken all records at the Indi¬
anapolis Speedway.
As the house lights dim and the sports news is being shown,
CLIFTON has just set a new world's record in speed boat
Another world-famous athlete appearing on the screen is
BACH, who has just broken the National 440 dash record,
movie starring Stephen Montgomery, Jeanette Taylor,
Mitchell, in which the hair styles and make-up were done

In the lobby after the movie, we

chatted with SARA DUBSON. She is on her
missionary work. She is doing a fine job.
Our next stop is the famous \ m ) Stork Club, where we are welcomed by
the owner, DONALD WISNASKY, ■ and his wife, Janet. They bought and re¬
decorated the club. Don informs us ^ that the rest of our classmates are waiting for
us at our reserved table. We find there Mr. and Mrs. LARRY HAINES. Mrs. Haines is
the former JOYCE WEABER. Larry is in New York attending a very important meeting
for the C. A. P. and G. O. C. officers. Seated next to them are Mr. and Mrs. VERNON
GREUTMAN. They are on a delayed honeymoon since the marriage took place before
KATHERINE graduated. Across the table are Mr. and Mrs. DON FORNWALT. Mrs. Fom-
walt is the former MARY JANE WILLIAMS, and Don is now a famous commercial artist.
DAVID LEWIS, who was hardly recognized because he is about six feet tall, brought us
a message informing us that CAROL QUERY and his wife, Luann, cannot be here because
of a special project at their research farm. Mr. and Mrs. GARY LUALLEN
have just returned from Hawaii, where Gary is now stationed. The former
RUTH ANN McILVENNA is now Mrs. Luallen. PAT ROSE and MARLA
KLEPPER are back from a sightseeing trip all over the United States. Marla
plans to marry Sonny Lazell after a ten year delay. Next to them we find
CARROLL GRINDOL, who is here attending an Illinois Bell Telephone con¬
vention.
A hush comes over the audience as the top vocalist, BOB LIEN HART, steps into the spot¬
light. Following Bob's numbers is the comedy act presented by BARR STOUTENBOROUGH.
Barr has been thinking of changing his name to Smith since it would be much easier to
pronounce.
After the acts the Class of 1956 just sat around and talked of the "good old days” at
MCHS.
CLASS WILL
We, the Senior Class of 1956, of the Community High School of Maroa, in the county
of Macon, with worries, fears, and forebodings, now pass safely into the great beyond
